Dr Ibrahim is a Sports Physician who graduated from the UNSW in 1995. He has over 10 years of sports medicine experience dealing with professional and elite athletes and teams across a number of different sports. He has held posts with the Australian Socceroos, Olyroos and junior Australian soccer teams, was medical Director for the Parramatta Power Soccer Club for 5 seasons. He also covered the Gold medal game at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. He is currently a FIFA sports medicine instructor for the Asian Football Confederation with involvement in lecturing and doping control procedures for the 2010 FIFA world Cup and 2011 Asian Cup. Dr Ibrahim’s expertise is not limited to soccer injuries. He is a consultant Doctor for the Sydney Roosters, Newtown Jets and NSW Institute of Sport. He sees patients from various sports including recreational running (Sydney Striders 10k), swimming, gymnastics and tennis. He also runs the school sports medicine clinic at Newington College and is a consultant for the school in sports medical matters. Dr Ibrahim is a fellow of the Australasian college of Sports Physicians. He has undertaken 4 years of full time training in sports medicine. He is also a Fellow of the Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine (Ireland). He is currently a board member of the NSW Boxing Authority and the Sports Medicine Australia (NSW). Dr Ibrahim has published his research on hip and groin injuries in professional soccer players. Dr Ibrahim is an injury management consultant (IMC) with the NSW workers compensation authority. He also consults for Qantas and Woolworths advising his clients on work injury reduction and acute management of injuries. Other companies that use our services include TNT, Dairy Farmers, Sydney Aquatic Centre and Chubb securities. His musculoskeletal background was enhanced by working as village doctor at Perisher Valley medical centre for two seasons, treating acute injuries. Dr Ibrahim’s special interests lie in tendinopathy of the shoulder, knee and ankle. He has helped treat chronic tendon patients with Autologous blood injections and Plasma Rich Platelet (PRP) injections. These techniques are performed under ultrasound guidance in rooms. He is also well versed in orthotics prescription and fitting. |
